Job Description

Careerscape is working with Vermont courts and law firms that need certified Court Reporters to create verbatim records of legal proceedings. You'll use stenography equipment to capture testimony accurately at trials, hearings, and depositions.

Responsibilities

  • Create verbatim records of court proceedings using stenotype
  • Transcribe depositions for attorneys accurately
  • Produce certified transcripts with proper formatting
  • Read back testimony when requested during proceedings
  • Mark and track exhibits during hearings
  • Provide real-time transcription when needed
  • Meet deadlines for transcript delivery
  • Maintain professional demeanor in legal settings
  • Travel to various courthouses and offices

Requirements

  • Certified Court Reporter in Vermont
  • Associate degree in Court Reporting or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of court reporting experience
  • High speed and accuracy on stenotype machine
  • Excellent English grammar and punctuation
  • Strong listening and concentration abilities
  • Proficiency with transcription software
  • Professional appearance and conduct
  • Reliable transportation to various locations
