Contract: 4 months contract (extension and perm possibility)

Job Summary:
We are hiring Mapping Vehicle Operators / Autonomous Vehicle Test Operators to support our advanced mapping and data-collection program in the Greater Austin area. In this role, you will operate a dedicated mapping vehicle as your primary workstation, following detailed testing procedures to collect accurate, high-quality geospatial data. This position requires strong attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently within a small, high-performing team. Candidates must be comfortable working with technology, following structured workflows, and operating vehicles for extended periods across varying road, traffic, and weather conditions.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Safely operate dedicated mapping and test vehicles across various environments, road types, and weather conditions while following all traffic laws.
- Follow detailed instructions to prepare vehicles and system components for testing.
- Collaborate with fellow operators and engineers to execute structured test plans and mapping routes.
- Maintain strict focus during long mapping assignments to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
- Perform route-based driving, engineering test drives, and transport/delivery driving tasks as needed.
- Complete thorough and accurate test reports documenting results, issues, and observations.
- Support engineering test activities using defined procedures, analysis tools, and technical guidelines.
- Travel to test sites, customer locations, and varied environments, including challenging terrain when required.
- Coordinate operational logistics such as route readiness, equipment preparation, and tool availability.
- Conduct quality assurance evaluations on vehicle functionality, system performance, and user experience.
- Operate safely during daytime, nighttime, and adverse weather conditions.
- Work independently or alongside an in-vehicle partner during test operations.
- Follow and uphold all security protocols for vehicle handling and report any issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Assist with general operational support tasks, including equipment handling, workspace organization, and data uploads (e.g., transferring data disks).
Job Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience in the technology industry or demonstrated strong interest in emerging technology.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) .
- Ability to sign and adhere to an NDA due to the confidential nature of the work.
- Proficiency with ticketing/workflow tools (e.g., JIRA ) for documenting feedback, tracking tasks, and reporting issues.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow structured schedules and detailed procedures.
- Comfort working with technology, including troubleshooting basic system or hardware issues.
- Ability to work four 10-hour shifts and remain productive inside a vehicle for extended periods.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or non-standard hours based on business needs.
- Ability to travel to various testing or lab locations (PHX0, PHX1, PHX3, Chandler, etc.) when the vehicle is unavailable.
- Interest in autonomous vehicles, robotics, mapping, or emerging technology is strongly preferred.
