Field Service Technician - Construction Equipment

Our client has been serving the construction industry for nearly a century and is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their Sioux City team. This is a critical field-based role providing on-site service and repair support for heavy construction equipment across the region.

About the Opportunity

This is an active service territory requiring a skilled technician who can deliver exceptional customer support. The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as the primary service contact for customers across your assigned geographic territory
  • Provide rapid response field service for construction and mining equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Build strong relationships with customers through reliable, high-quality service delivery
  • Travel to customer job sites to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs
  • Collaborate with service teams across multiple locations when needed

Ideal Candidate Profile

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Technical or trade school education preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience with heavy equipment
  • Strong diagnostic skills in engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Class A CDL or ability to obtain one
  • Own professional tool set for field service work
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage urgent repair priorities
  • Residence within reasonable distance of Des Moines, IA

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality repairs and maintenance on customer equipment at job sites
  • Troubleshoot complex engine, driveline, hydraulic, and electrical problems
  • Maintain quick response times for customer service calls
  • Document service activities and maintain accurate repair records
  • Communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal teams
  • Travel within territory and occasionally to other service areas as needed
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and company quality requirements

Physical Requirements

This role requires physical capability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 60 lbs
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Perform sustained physical activities including bending, kneeling, climbing
  • Work in potentially loud industrial environments
  • Handle tools and equipment for extended periods
