About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Permit Coordinator to join a large telecommunications company’s fiber infrastructure team in Alabama. This role is all about keeping projects moving by managing permits for fiber construction across multiple jurisdictions. What You’ll Do
- Review design drawings to ensure they’re permit-ready at key construction milestones
- Prepare and submit permit applications to city, county, and state agencies
- Track permit statuses and maintain a live permit dashboard
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to resolve permit issues
- Communicate with permitting authorities to follow up on submissions and approvals
- Generate weekly progress reports and permit summaries
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards
Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years in telecom or utility fiber permitting (experience with IFP workflows is a big plus)
- Strong AutoCAD skills; IQGeo experience preferred
- Familiarity with Alabama permitting processes (municipal, county, DOT)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple permits across different jurisdictions
- Experience with permit tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, SharePoint)
- Knowledge of reporting tools like Power BI
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience with IFP permitting
- IQGeo design knowledge
