Job Description

About Us:

Pistola is redefining modern denim through craftsmanship and innovation, blending timeless style with forward-thinking design to create iconic, sustainable, and functional pieces that inspire confidence in every fit. As a Los Angeles-based contemporary apparel brand under KNG—Pistola and Daze—we're known for effortlessly elevated essentials with a clean, cool California aesthetic.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Design & Brand Creative, the Senior Designer, Ready-to-Wear (RTW) will help lead design and product development across our growing RTW categories. This person will translate the Pistola DNA into compelling, trend-right collections that balance creativity, commercial viability, and quality. Partnering closely with our Design, Technical Design, and Production teams, you’ll take ideas from initial concept through to final product, ensuring RTW assortments deliver on brand vision, fit standards, and sales goals.

** This role is based at our Los Angeles (Vernon) HQ and requires in-office attendance Monday through Friday.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Design Direction: Own seasonal RTW design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and fabric direction in alignment with Pistola’s brand identity.
  • Collection Development: Create original designs across key RTW categories (wovens, knits, outerwear, dresses, and seasonal essentials) with a focus on both elevated staples and newness.
  • Trend & Market Research: Track industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer insights to inform design decisions and keep Pistola ahead of the curve.
  • Sketch & Tech Pack Creation: Produce detailed hand and CAD sketches, flats, and tech packs that clearly communicate design intent.
  • Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Partner with the Production team to source fabrics, trims, and washes that elevate product while meeting cost and margin targets.
  • Fittings & Approvals: Work closely with Technical Design during fittings to ensure fit consistency and translate creative vision into production-ready garments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Merchandising, Planning, and Sales to ensure line architecture, pricing, and assortment strategies align with brand and business goals.
  • Mentor & Collaborate: Support and mentor associate and assistant designers, fostering collaboration across the design team.

What You Bring:

  • 6–8+ years of design experience in contemporary women’s RTW, with expertise in woven tops, dresses, and outerwear
  • A proven ability to translate brand DNA into collections that resonate with both buyers and customers
  • Highly skilled in sketching, Illustrator/Photoshop, CADs, and tech pack creation
  • Deep understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabric development
  • Strong communicator who can respectfully challenge ideas, disrupt norms, and elevate processes across teams
  • Confident executive presence—able to advocate for the needs of the business and design team in leadership settings
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and always solution-oriented when faced with challenges
  • Refuses to compromise on quality or standards
  • Collaborative, resourceful, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Passionate about fashion and energized by the intersection of denim and modern RTW
