Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Acute Care
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our acute care team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise managing medically complex and high-acuity patients in a hospital setting. This role requires clinical independence, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute care hospital environment
- Perform bedside and instrumental swallowing evaluations as clinically indicated
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for medically complex patients
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case management, and rehabilitation staff
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans and safety strategies
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning
- Ensure compliance with NYSED, hospital policies, and evidence-based practice standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist in an acute care hospital setting
- Demonstrated experience managing high-acuity and medically complex cases
- Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
Schedule Requirements
- 4 weekdays and 1 weekend day
- Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

- First Interview: 10–15 minute phone screening
- Second Interview: In-person interview
