Job Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. The SLP works with patients across the lifespan to improve communication skills, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results
- Provide therapy services for articulation, language, fluency, voice, and social communication
- Collaborate with families, teachers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and treatment plans
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to support communication goals
- Monitor patient progress and adjust therapy plans as needed
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings (school settings)
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, state regulations, and facility policies
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (preferred or required)
- Experience with pediatric, adult, or geriatric populations (depending on setting)
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Physical & Cognitive Demands
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Capacity to manage multiple caseloads and meet deadlines
- Occasional lifting or positioning of patients
