Job Description

Overview:

The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist performs high-quality, non-invasive vascular studies to assist physicians in the diagnosis and management of vascular disease. This role is key to supporting our mission of providing exceptional cardiovascular care through clinical excellence, patient-centered service, and teamwork.

Job Duties:

  • Perform comprehensive vascular ultrasound examinations including: Carotid and vertebral duplex, Venous and arterial duplex (upper and lower extremities), Venous reflux and insufficiency studies, Abdominal aorta, renal artery, and mesenteric studies
  • Utilize Doppler ultrasound and physiologic testing techniques to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities.
  • Analyze and document findings, preparing accurate preliminary reports for physician interpretation.
  • Ensure image quality, protocol compliance, and proper patient documentation in the EMR/PACS systems.
  • Provide a professional and compassionate experience for patients, explaining procedures and maintaining patient comfort.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, reporting service issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all infection control, safety, and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the imaging department.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Vascular Technology program.
  2. Certification: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS, or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through CCI.
  3. Experience: Minimum of one year of vascular ultrasound experience preferred. Cardiology or vascular practice experience is strongly desired.
